                                                ** THINGS TO REMEMBER**
          ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is the paper work you will need to study and fill out in order for your Sparkies to be part of the tenth Iowa, Sparks, Camp-A-Rama. We know that as with anything, there is bound to be a lot of questions. We hope that somewhere in all this material we will be able to answer most of them, but if after reading over this material you still have questions, please call

Brad Johnson at (515)-371-6419

(if you call Hidden Acres with any question except lodging questions for Friday night you will probably NOT get your question answered).

Here are some of the questions that have been asked
Q.)Someone told me that we cannot send any clubbers without also sending a leader who will have to pay the same price as a clubber. Is that correct?
A.)Yes, that is correct. Every clubber MUST have an adult attend Camp with them. We call these people AWANA Leaders or Parents (“AL/P’s”). These people will pay the same fee as a camper and they will be similar to a leader at club. All AL/P’s will get a T-shirt and will go with the clubbers to ANY and ALL events for the day (meals, games, etc.). AL/P’s from your club can be responsible for no more than 4 campers, maximum. There will be NO exceptions. If any camper comes to camp without their pre-registered AL/P we will have to refuse them admittance. You cannot send a camper to camp planning on making arrangements at camp to find an AL/P with only 3 children. The insurance company is very firm on this point. All campers will have there pre-registered AL/P’s with them throughout the day (no exceptions).

Q.)Does an AL/P have to be a Sparky Award winner?
A.)No, but they do have to be older than 21.

Q.)My child is on medicine. Can I send the medicine?
A.)Ask your AL/P. That is one reason why you must come with your pre-arranged AL/P. He or she is responsible for all medical treatment, such as seeing your child takes his or her medicine. This is also a good example of why all AL/P’s must be pre-arranged on your registration submitted prior to the registration deadline.

Q.)Is there a bus?
A.)No, you will be responsible for all transportation.

Q.)If we send in our registration, are we automatically accepted?
A.)No, we only have so much room. We will send out acceptances as soon as we can (provided your paperwork is complete). Do not send in your paperwork at the last moment and expect to receive an acceptance prior to camp. No acceptances will be sent out the last week prior to camp.
(More questions on back)
Previous years we had to send back 90% of the applications because the witnessed line on the medical release form was not signed by the Clubs, Pastor or Commander. We also had to send back registrations because the forms were not COMPLETELY filled out with insurance company name or group number, etc.
If you register and we run out of room, your funds will be returned.

Q.)I’m 72 years old. I just got my Sparkie Trophy. Can I come?
A.) YES, please do. If you are older than 21, you will not need an AL/P. We will treat you as a Clubber.

Q.)Is there anything to do in the area while my child is at camp?
A.)Yes and No. You may wait at the campgrounds while your camper is there, but we would rather have you discover all the surrounding area has to offer. At Hidden Acres, you will be 30 miles from Ames, 15 miles from Boone and the Scenic Valley Railroad, not to mention Ledges State Park. You will be 6 miles from Don Williams Lake and camping grounds, and golf course.

Q.)No one has asked yet (but we are praying they do), “May I come be part of the staff?”
A.)Yes, if you would like to come to camp, but you don’t want to be an AL/P, you can let  Brad Johnson or Ron Durbin know and they will be happy to assign you tasks for that day. If you are planning to come to camp to be part of the staff, you must let Brad Johnson or Ron Durbin know that you would like to help that day.
WE CANNOT HAVE 30 PARENTS COMING TO CAMP FIGURING THEY WILL JUST STAY AT CAMP AND HELP WITHOUT OUR KNOWING AHEAD OF TIME. MOST OF THE STAFF WILL BE ASKED TO ATTEND AN ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING WEEKS BEFORE CAMP STARTS.

Q.)Does the clubber need insurance.
A.)Yes, the commercial insurance policy must be listed on the registration form.
NO CLUBBER WILL BE ALLOWED AT CAMP UNLESS THEY PROVIDE COMPLETE INSURANCE INFORMATION ASKED FOR ON THE MEDICAL RELEASE FORM.  NO CLUBBER WILL BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND WITHOUT PROOF OF COMMERCIAL INSURANCE.

Q.)Will you accept my registration after the deadline?
A.)Only if there is still room and you have special permission from the registrar, Brad Johnson.
NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED THE LAST WEEK BEFORE CAMP, EVEN IF THERE IS ROOM, IT WILL BE RETURNED.
